Restaurants

Ok, so if you don't use yelp, you are foolish.  Get on there.  Trust it (but also read people's comments on there).

My favorites by city are the following:

Atascadero : Thai Elephant
Arroyo Grande: Alphy's Broiler, Baja Fresh
Los Osos: Noi's Little Thai Takeout, Sylvesters Burgers
Morro Bay: Taco Temple, The Galley, Carla's (for breakfast)
Pismo Beach: The Cracked Crab, Splash Cafe (less busy in SLO, same food)
San Luis Obispo: Goshi Japanese Restaurant, Shalimar (Indian), Mo's Smokehouse, Upper Crust Trattoria, Tahoe Joes Famous Steakhouse (get the Joe's steak)

Farmers Market

Here is the schedule of Farmers Markets. That's right; there is at least one a day.  Certainly, in terms of selection, some are better than others.  San Luis Obispo Thursday night farmers market trumping the rest.  But no matter which you go to, you will get some of the best fruit you have ever tasted in your life.

Cal Poly U-Pick

Cal Poly has several crops throughout the year that you can go and pick your own fruit which is very fun.  The Satsuma Mandarin trees are in the winter and are small trees just right for short young pickers.  Plus they are the best little oranges you will ever eat.  Sweet, seedless, easy to peel.  They also have tasty peaches during the summer.  Oh, and if you just want to do they-pick, you can also buy from their stand at the orchard.  Call their hotline at (805) 756-2296, and find out what you pick and what days.  You get there off of Highland Drive, in San Luis Obispo.  Where exactly you go depends on which crop it is.  Usually they have signs to direct you.
